Autumn is here, the leaves are littering the ground with their gorgeous orange hues and making me re-evaluate my wardrobe. Only this week did I bag up my summer items and flutter my eyelashes for the Mr to bring down my jumpers from the attic. I have so many parties and home things to buy this season that money is tight. So, here are several outfits made from only 5 new pieces that you can mix & match with easily!
First up, I think a new pair of boots is essential for Autumn right? But you don’t need to cry at the thought of splashing out on a pair, as plenty of high street stores and online do amazing boots for under £30!
My boots of choice have been a pair of black, faux suede knee-high boots from our trusty ASOS, I had a voucher to spend through my past spending habits so with the sale on & my voucher, I bought them for £13! They’re out of stock now, but linked below are more budget alternatives. Keep an eye out for discount codes to make them cheaper again!
Pairing knee-high or over the knee boots with jeans is obvious, but I’ve recently been wearing tights and tea dresses with them for an alternative to heels/stilettos on nights out as they provide comfort and warmth. My next go-to outfit with them will be with a baggy jumper and a woolly hat. I think these types of boots can turn any outfit into instant “I’ve made an effort” mode.
But if you’re not a knee-high lover, that’s okay as I too have fallen head-over-heels (ha, lame joke!) for these red ankle boots, these colour boots are usually something I’d completely shy away from (the photo does not do the bright colour justice) but during Summer I enjoyed wearing those leopard print boots so I took the leap and opted for these red boots and I love them, you can wear an entirely black outfit and they’ll add a pop of colour, I paired with a red jumper so as to tone down how bright my feet are but I’ve been wearing these with jeans and a basic hoodie and they just look SO stylish!
Next, jackets, I’ll admit, I’m a jacket snob, I’ve never owned many jackets, yet this season I have 3 new ones! This burgundy corduroy jacket was one myself and Robyn kept an eye out for a size 8 for ages, the pair of us “popped” into Primark to see if my size was available numerous times, a month later and hoorah tucked at the back was my size!! This jacket will also be perfect for winter because it’s so snuggly with the fur inside. It’s a bit on the large side but I wouldn’t recommend sizing down unless you only planned on wearing one layer underneath. Not that you need more than one layer in Autumn with this jacket.
My next two jackets are a bargain find from Shein again! Doesn’t this orange blazer just scream autumn at you? I mean you can’t get much more of an autumnal colour can you? Burnt orange for leaves, orange pumpkins, orange sunsets! Just yes, yes, yes! Layer this jacket with a simple jumper (I prefer black or grey myself) and you’ll look effortlessly casual. The second jacket is one that I think @helloOctober inspired me with, she has a jacket from Topshop that looks amazing on her, (click here to see her Instagram of it) she styles it so well, so I popped into my local Topshop and couldn’t find it 🙁 but then I spotted this beaut and I thought, ok, it’s not a dupe that’s for sure, it’s cotton, it’s khaki green not khaki print and it has pearl detailing but the shape is pretty much spot on and I am so glad I chose it! I can pretend I’m as cool as Suzie now (I never will be, but Hey! I can pretend)
Lastly, get yourself a thin knit jumper, if you don’t like rollnecks like me, (absolutely despise pushing my head through them, feel so claustrophobic!) then opt for a half neck like this one from Primark, I’m fairly certain I only paid £6 for this bargain and there were many other colours available.
Thin knit jumpers are perfect for layering during the transition between Autumn & Winter, layer under numerous dresses, the layered dress style works for office attire too! Over cute tee’s (easy piece to remove when getting too warm inside) and under pretty blouses and shirt’s
