Popworld Swansea has been a go-to for many on a Swansea (Wind street) night out. If you were looking for some cheesy music, a great place to dance and enjoy with friends it was the place everyone ended up! I mean who doesn’t love belting out some classics whether you’re tipsy or not! It’s recently had a refurb though and they kicked off the following weekend with the 90’s boy band East 17 singing live after midnight!
Read on to see the changes!
Popworld Swansea very kindly invited me along for the night with my 3 friends as VIP guests. We got our own booth, Ciroc vodka and mixers. (You too can book VIP treatment here)
We took a quick look around the place. They’ve got some really cute booths and a little extra space for dancing. As you can sort of see in this photo, they’ve now got a lit-up dance floor, absolutely perfect for dancing. (not so perfect if you have a dress on like me where it turned it transparent 🙈)
After messing around with the props and a couple of drinking games we ordered some delicious sharing cocktails.
By half 10 the place was 100% the busiest I’ve yet seen it. I think the refurb and extra dancing space had gotten around, it was a fab atmosphere though. We also made many new girlfriends. (as girls do on a night out, right?) Therefore we offered our seating space to those who couldn’t stand much longer in their heels and chatted away for hours.
I took a couple of photos with East 17 myself for social media. Then around 1 am East 17 got up onto the stage and performed some of their best songs. Kicking off with everyone’s favourite. (well second favourite as I’m guessing “stay now” is the obvious choice) It’s Alright, everyone got so into it, because at one stage I did have to duck to narrowly avoid a flying elbow heading right for my head (the downside to only being 5ft4) But what a good night.
Thank you Popworld Swansea for inviting myself and my friends to your East 17 night. It’s definitely one that won’t be forgotten and a few of us will actually be back in Popworld dancing the night away next weekend!
