A little bit about me and why I think I can write a home/interior blog.
I am only 24, I say only, some friends I went to school with are married/have kids, some still live with their parents, saving for their first home. Your 20's are a funny age, right? You can't help but find yourself comparing and wondering if perhaps your behind? Should your boyfriend of 1 year have proposed already? Or should you ditch your fun care-free life and retail job to pursue a more 'adult' office job? I've been there and done all besides the kids part...
I've moved into 3 rented properties since moving out of my mother's at 19. My first was a fully furnished all bills sorted by the landlord deal. We found it on Gumtree, so there were no estate agent or admin fees! Bonus, when you're first moving out as it can be expensive! Second, was a fully furnished 2-bed house with Robyn where we had to sort all the bills etc. Our third and current home is an unfurnished rent only property, we sort everything, from buying our own fridge to making sure the energy meters are updated.
We have plans to start joint savings account for a mortgage deposit, but realistically we're looking at that being at least another 2 years away so for now, we are going to decorate and update as much as we can this cute 2-bed, rented, home of ours in the city.
So, if you'd like to learn everything from how to move out for the first time, to troubles along the way, how to deal with estate agents, furnishing your home on a budget and then creating a luxury home on "high street" items. You've come to the right place!
I'm looking forward to this new journey that Rose above the Thorns is going to take and if you have any questions or post requests, either leave a comment below or Tweet me!
I’m guessing if you clicked on this post to read you like gin too, or you’re totally open to trying it and the amazing flavours it has. This post isn’t sponsored, I just want to throw that in first, but I was invited to the below event on a possible review basis.
Ever wondered why people buy furniture online or if its safe/sensible? I’ve always wondered that too! But then I took the plunge and bought 3 items of furniture from Amazon!
Over the past few months, we have been updating the furniture and pieces we have, to create a budget-friendly “dream home”. So I’ll be sharing with you the updates we’ll be making along the way, starting with turning a very magnolia bedroom into a peaceful, cosy room for under £100.
