Hands up who has a set of makeup brushes that never, to barely get used, for fear of ruining them? Yeah, I bet there are more of us than you think, and Spectrum Collections brushes are no help with that because their brushes are gorgeous and perfectly instagrammable with their mermaid and unicorn-inspired sets.
Just like any beauty obsessed girl, I have a fair bit of makeup and a serious addiction to buying beauty related items. So to make myself feel slightly better about spending my money on vasts amounts of it. I decided to share my views and new buys with you here. Hopefully my reviews and thoughts will help you with your future purchases or even just keep you entertained if you are like me, and love a good nose at what someone else has bought.
If like me, you, unfortunately, have dark purple to blue “circles” (more like a constant dark patch for me) under your eyes. Then this post is for you! Over the years I have tried gosh knows how many concealers, products etc to hide them and even some silly “trick” ways that include putting frozen tissue on your eyes…. But often they don’t work or barely cover. So, today I am writing a post on the products I have found to actually work.
I’m Michelle-Louise. I’m guest posting today here on Rose Above The Thorns’ blog. (Thanks for having me, Charlee!)
Coachella may have come and gone but it’s sparked the festival vibes and since Summer is just around the corner, today’s post naturally had to be festival themed.
I have recently been very good with my money and really only buying what was necessary or a cheap treat to myself (like my KISS nails).
But I did have to buy a fair few beauty items as I was running out, so I tried some new brands/products and thought I’d give you a little haul and a brief review on my thoughts (have they worked as promised or not).
I may have not long come back from a holiday up in sunny North Wales, but with moving house, decorating and travelling over an hour to and from work every day it has taken its toll on me and my poor back aches a lot!
Wishful thinking is making me want a spa day in the gorgeous Spa at Cardiff’s Lush, but until someone decides to spoil me, I’ve picked some items you can buy for a pamper evening at home on a budget. Continue reading
Back in February Benefit invited me to their launch of some lovely new duo products in They’re Real range, you can find that post here: But I have finally gotten around to actually testing these products and therefore I have put together a makeup look with a little review of what I think!
One of my tasks for myself this year is to support local welsh businesses or buy from British suppliers if possible, which to me also means supporting my fellow bloggers/Instagrammers and alike. So today I bring you a post with 8 of my favourite Instagrammers and their accounts. With a mixture of beauty, fashion, lifestyle and interior design.
The false nails that are true to size and perfectly strong and flexible. KISS via a PR sent me some nail products ready for Valentine’s day, but I couldn’t wait to try them and I opted straight for the natural french manicure design. NO ONE has realised I have false nails on & they are SO strong – I genuinely love them!
“I am a Benefit virgin” – Well I was till NOW!
I went to the Benefit, at Boots Llantrisant Event for the night before their Launch of They’re Real Beyond Double the Lip and Duo Shadows. I was hooked. They showed us two looks, and allowed me to play with the makeup! Old and new lines.
So we are now into 2017 and there will be lots of new fun things to do and new makeup lines to try soon.
In the mean time, I thought, I’d share with you, my favourite and most used makeup and beauty items of 2016 in my beauty stash. I am a girl of habit, I will admit that I am a Taurean, stubborn and kind of hate change. So when I find a product I like, I stick to it pretty much for months!
So I wear lipstick or some kind of lip colouring product every day that I leave the house, and I reapply throughout the day and yes, it dries out my lips. Every night I used to apply faithful vaseline in hope it would work… it would for the morning, reapply lipstick and by lunch time, lipstick has worn off and hello dry lips with a little crack that I can’t help but bite off, leaving my poor lips bleeding a little till… I reapply with lippy again!
At last, I have a found a product that pretty much lasts hydration wise all day with the right application and setting time used. That’s sometimes our problem isn’t it girls, not enough time to let that moisturiser soak in and foundation sit nicely before we go and put another layer of something on top! (This can affect the durability and use of the product) I use the original balm every night just before bed and if I have used very little lip product throughout the day, when been out in the cold I may apply a small amount just to keep a barrier from the harsh weather.
In October just before Halloween, I could barely even think about Christmas as Halloween was excitedly 2 weeks away and my bank balance cried as it knew the costume, food, alcohol, travel and night out was going to be expensive! So off I went to Lush Swansea to their first ever bloggers event and it sorta- kind of got me in the Christmassy mood a little bit! They had Christmas music playing in the background and glitter everywhere. (I know, that end part is pretty standard for Lush!)
