If you are like me, have a full-time job or perhaps even a busy and demanding part-time one, we know how easy it can be to just fall onto the sofa and stay there for hours eating food and watching tv. Yes, the intention to blog there, but not much willpower to actually do it, and this becomes far too much of an easy ‘rut’ to break. Then there are the evenings when you think “I could really do with blogging tonight, but I have been asked to go out”, or just the, I really could do with a few hours from the house moments. We all get it from time to time, so I am going to tell you tips and ways on how you can get your blogger game together and still have a fun social life!
I can hear you saying how do I fit it all in? One or the other always has to get abandoned!
Well, with this post, I am hoping to break that rut for you and I, because this is a kind of shout out to my inner self to get off Netflix and earn that life I want!
Try to follow these rules to the best you can, you will gain that exposure/following/great content that will help you achieve the goals you desire. Whilst still knowing your best friends and having fun!
My tip number 1:
*Dedicate an evening to blog any ideas you have had, or edit any drafts. I like to dedicate my Tuesday evenings to blogging. You may change the date to say an empty Thursday that week if say all your friends are up for cinema/food on that Tuesday night. But go right back to Tuesday the following week, I find a dedicated day and routine helps me keep it that way!
*Carry a notebook/phone with notes where you can write down any blog ideas throughout the week, then transfer them when home onto your blog spreadsheet or blog planner. Great way to help fill in those blank no blog plan days or just to remind yourself of your next idea. (you can find out how to create or how a spreadsheet can help your blog here)
*Don’t forget your blog is your hobby/job – But what would you miss more if they were gone? The company of your friend/partner/family or a blog that can be picked up again with enough willingness. Think on that! – Now I know that is a bit contradictory because of course none of us wants our blog to flop, but if life gets in the way a little bit, DON’T beat yourself up about it, just go right back to these rules when you can and do your very best to make up for lost time.
*Make use of your free time/procrastination time – If you find yourself sat on a bus/bored in work (mostly works for office based jobs) anywhere really with a few free moments to write, try to come up with at least one new blog idea/title/photo op or something along those lines. Write it in that notebook/list and build on that idea.
*Spend your time wisely – I love Netflix too, but limit yourself that if you have watched 2x 45min episodes and not scheduled at least 3 days worth of tweets, then get to it! Schedule those tweets then treat to one more episode or… two! – I found a massive drop in my blog numbers on the days I didn’t schedule tweets, soon I will put up a post on how scheduling tweets boosted my numbers and how to do it right!
*Got a 2 day weekend? Justify your time – I am terrible for 1 day of relaxation, 1 day out and about busy, but in that relaxing morning I try to make sure I perhaps schedule a week’s worth of tweets, or go on a blog comment spree/take part in a chat or anything similar that you are interested in. All these have dramatically boosted my reader numbers. They can be a little time consuming and feel a bit flat compared to actually writing a blog post out, but trust me you can gain readers to your OLD blog posts, that if edited right or re-designed (you can find a blog post here on how editing your old blog post can get you more readers NOW) that can then gain followers for your future posts. QUALITY over quantity, Trust me!
All in all, I have tried and tested ALL of these ways, I wouldn’t just spout out rubbish to you, I know my followers/DA isn’t that high, for you to perhaps feel like you can trust me compared to some of the other “known/bigger” bloggers. But everyone starts somewhere right? And I have tested all these ways and they Work! on the days I keep to it, my numbers/followers fail because I do! I procrastinate far too much and have an amazing social life with plenty of time to blog and watch tv too, but I do the latter far too much and regret it later. But this year! is the year I kick my own butt and I am going to do this, and so are you!
Good luck, let me know how you get on and leave your blog links below and everyone try, to at least visit two links below and leave a comment as this again helps your DA score! You can also read a post on that here!
