I’ve never worn a dress like this one before, especially not styling it the way I have. But when Shein offered this to be one of the pieces I could choose to be gifted for review, I instantly saw myself wearing this in 3 ways so I didn’t think twice and chose this beaut of a dress!
(I posted the above picture a couple of days ago on Insta and I instantly had a text from my sister asking where was it from!)
Until now, maxi dresses I have always thought of as a summertime piece, but right now I couldn’t be more obsessed with the idea of pairing this maxi dress with boots and jeans. Yes, you heard me right! Jeans!
Starting with the jean outfit, I actually took inspiration for this look from Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. Yep, I’ve only just started watching the show, well that’s a lie I’m about 2 months into watching it and on season 6. I’m addicted, and when I saw the slit in this dress I instantly had Daenerys vibes as she wears light cotton trousers under her dresses, so I thought I’d recreate the look, but make it autumn-appropriate. For my take on the look, I decided to pair with simple black skinny jeans from Primark, H&M velvet black boots and my Lipsy sale bargain jacket. The best part is I could easily rock this outfit with hardly anyone knowing I had jeans keeping me warm underneath unless the slit flashed some jean leg. Extra points if you can plait your hair in one of her designs!
Second outfit is a slightly more evening appropriate look. Pairing OTK black boots and a bright orange clutch bag from Ted Baker, which of course wasn’t full price because this is a budget blog of course! Using my large green Topshop scarf I bought many years ago for a shawl, as it works perfectly against the leaves in the floral pattern and it’s just so big it’s brilliant to drape.
Third outfit is my favourite, a lil bit rock chick with my new black stud boots from TK Maxx and Zara faux leather jacket, it gives a little edge to this pretty dress. The florals tone it down and allow my personality to come out, a little princess grunge.
As you may be able to tell, I am absolutely OBSESSED with this dress! I highly recommend buying it not just for autumn but it’s a perfect transitional piece for next year also!
